Overview
Award-rate overtime, Saturday, Sunday & public holiday
Australian Modern Awards specify ordinary hours and overtime multipliers. Most awards apply 1.5× for the first 2-3 overtime hours per day, 2.0× thereafter, and 2.5× on public holidays. Saturdays and Sundays often have their own rates (1.25× and 1.5-1.75×).
Salaried employees on individual flexibility agreements may have overtime 'absorbed' into their salary — but only if compensated above the award minimum.
